What is balayage?

Balayage is a French word meaning ‘sweeping’. This refers to sweeping on a hair lightener to create highlights.

Balayage is the technique of free-hand painting highlights onto the hair, creating a soft and natural gradation of lightness towards the ends. It allows for a sun-kissed natural-looking hair colour, similar to what nature gives us as children. Balayage also has softer, less noticeable regrowth lines than traditional highlights.
